An Apple Valley Fire Protection District engineer died Sunday, Dec. 3 of injuries sustained in an off-duty motorcycle accident in Lake Elsinore, authorities said.
The District identified the engineer as Jared Shepard. Further information, including how long he had worked with the agency, was not immediately disclosed.
Cal Fire/Riverside County Fire Department spokesman Rob Roseen said firefighters responded to the area of the 20700 block of Cereal Street in Lake Elsinore just before 10:25 a.m. and found a rider who had attempted a jump and sustained serious injuries.
Paramedics took the rider to the hospital with serious injuries.
The address is in the area of the Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park, a facility with multiple dirt tracks.
“We ask that you join us in keeping Jared’s family and friends in your thoughts and prayers,” the District said in a statement.
