CHICO — As the year 2024 began, new life entered the world.

Baby Jahaziel made his debut Monday at 12:02 a.m. He weighed eight pounds and 15 ounces and was 21 inches long.

“He’s adorable,” said Enloe Health Director of Marketing and Communications Suzie Lawry-Hall.

Jahaziel’s parents, Jose Garcia Sanchez and Bellaneira Acosta Alcazar, are very happy with their new bundle of joy. They live in Orland.

Jahaziel is the first child for Garcia Sanchez and the second for Acosta Alcazar. Jahaziel’s parents found his name on the internet and liked it.

Alcosta Alcazar had a natural birth and baby Jahaziel was a few days later than expected. His due date was Dec. 28, 2023. Alcosta Alcazar went into labor Sunday.

“She was strong and knew it was time,” said Lawry-Hall.

Garcia Sanchez and Acosta Alcazar knew the sex of the baby before he was born.

Jahaziel has an 8-year-old brother who was excitedly waiting to meet his new brother at home Monday.

Over at Oroville Hospital, a baby boy was born to his proud parents at 10:21 a.m., according to Christina Oliver, registered nurse house supervisor.

The baby’s height was 19 inches and his weight was six pounds and 13 ounces. The parents did not wish to provide any other details.
