SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A big rig rolled over Tuesday on state Highway 1 in coastal Sonoma County, shutting down the highway for several hours.
Just after 4:30 p.m., the double tanker crashed just north of Jenner Beach Trail at mile marker 23.02, the California Highway Patrol reported.
A hazardous materials team was called out along with a tow truck crew, and the fuel was transferred to an empty tanker truck that was sent from Richmond.
Hazmat personnel declared the scene safe at 12:25 a.m. — several hours after the incident was first reported.
However, a 1-mile section of the highway remained closed north of Jenner at 1:15 a.m. because the tanker was not yet uprighted.
No injuries were reported in the collision, according to the CHP.
