The magnitude of the danger fentanyl poses to the community, especially teens and young adults, is alarming and concerning. This community forum, held on June 20, 2023, aimed to raise awareness about opioid misuse and the rise of fentanyl poisoning deaths. Information about how to prevent these surging fentanyl deaths and access to available resources were shared, and an expert panel was available to answer questions and give brief training on administering Naloxone, a life-saving opioid overdose reversal drug. Forum participants received a free box of Naloxone at the end of the presentation.

Sponsored by Donald P. Wagner, Chairman OC Board of Supervisors, 3rd District; Kate Sanchez, 71st Assembly District; the OC Health Care Agency and the City of Rancho Santa Margarita, the event featured Mark Lawrenz, Interim Assistant Deputy Director of Mental Health and Recovery Services, as well as expert presenters Perla Mendoza and Idow Salad.

Please take this opportunity to learn how to protect yourself, your loved ones, and our community from the increasing problem of fentanyl overdose.
