When the Los Angeles Dodgers signed Shohei Ohtani to a 10-year, $700 million deal, the two entities (player and team) entered a long-term collaboration pact that extended well beyond the field.
As the single most influential player and person in MLB, Ohtani has the power to do a lot for society, and the Dodgers vowed to support him in any way they could.
They are teaming up to donate a significant amount of money to help victims of a recent earthquake in Ohtani’s native country: Japan.
“The Dodgers announced that in collaboration with Shohei Ohtani, they are donating $1 million to support the victims of the New Year’s earthquake in Japan,” Talkin’ Baseball tweeted.

There are more than 200 people missing after the devastating disaster that took place in the Noto peninsula.
Per BBC, it was a 7.6 magnitude earthquake.
92 lives have been lost so far, so Ohtani and the Dodgers decided that if they could help somehow, they would.
There are people still thought to be trapped under their collapsed homes.
There are still thousands of people with no power or water and isolated due to landslides and blocked roads.
Ohtani and the Dodgers both released statements announcing the aid and hoping for rescuing efforts to help people in any way possible.

Ohtani is showing a nice sense of awareness and a kind heart, as he has a soft spot for his country and doesn’t want to see his people suffer.
Our hope is that missing people can be found and rescued, and disaster-stricken areas can be reconstructed.
