The San Benito Chamber of Commerce (SBCC) is once again organizing its popular Resaca City Bike Tour, which attracts cyclists from across the Valley and beyond.
This year, the bicycle tour will be held on February 17, a departure from year’s past when the event was held in early spring. The event was held in April last year.
This year’s bicycle tour marks the seventh annual event; and, as typical, will begin at San Benito’s Heavin Memorial Park, located within the heart of the city, 705 N. Bowie, San Benito. The race will promptly begin at 8 a.m. and is set to wrap at 4 p.m. The tour will start and end at the same locale, and watering stations will be available at key locations throughout the predetermined routes.
Organizers are expecting well over 200 riders this year.
As always, participants can register to partake in either a 20-mile route, 40.4-mile route or 62.4-mile route, round trip. Local law enforcement will be on hand to escort cyclists throughout each route. Additional volunteers will patrol the routes and assist cyclists with issues, such as flat tires.
Additionally, this year, routes will be accessible on the MAPMYRIDE smartphone application. Medals will be given to all participants and hotdogs will be served after the tour.
Registration is $35 per participant and proceeds will benefit the SBCC.
Chamber members are encouraged to drop off promotional items to be included in participant goodie bags at the Chamber office, located 860 N. Travis St., San Benito, by February 10, 2024.
The Chamber is also actively seeking event sponsors ranging from water station sponsors — to man and supply water stations — to monetary sponsors ranging from $100 to $1,500 sponsorships.
